Road Trip to Newcastle!!

Goodbye Melbourne...

We drove to Wangaretta and met Pascal for dinner at the Indian Tandoori Restaurant. The chefs are local cricket celebrities. We had fascinating discussions about Trinidadian politics over good North Indian food.

Then we drove some more and spent the night in Tarcutta. We didn't plan to stop there, but it was 1am, it was a town and there was a Motor Inn. We got into the carpark and had to ring a bell which woke the owner up.

He was all groggy and in his underpants, but he gave us the only remaining room- a family unit. The place was so country that one of the features of this Motor Inn was the animal stables!

New Year's Eve was a quiet affair for me. Had dinner at a Greek restaurant. Allan had to work that night.

Just in time for the fireworks, Allan and I met up, had a quick drink, and then turned in for the new year.

High-Tea at the Hyatt

Met up with some of the girls for oh-so-posh high-tea, but it was well worth the months it took to organise!

The food was delish, the atmosphere was nice and the gossip VERY entertaining...

Sigh.. I wonder when I'll see these girls again...

Christmas Day

I was working nights during the festive period, so I was really exhausted by the time I came home.

But not too tired to open presents!!

Hat & Glove Birthday Party, Fitzroy

Bettina and Ulrik just came from Germany to be exchange students in post-grad law.

Bettina's new housemates threw a house party, themed Hats and Gloves.

There were actors and philosophers and psychologists.

Some of them had JUST arrived from Germany that very week.

It's so nice to arrive in a foreign country and immediately be welcomed by a party, haha.

Some of the people got drunk and thought they were Michael Jackson: sporting the one-glove look.

Jane gave us a little adventure walking up and down Brunswick St in the middle of the night looking for a vegetarian kebab seller (who DOES exist!).
Box Hill RMO Party, Golden Monkey

James invited us to the Box Hill RMO party. I took it as an opportunity to catch up with Gaya, who's moving to Newcastle too!!

It was pretty impressive, James managed to get a whole gang of people to go for this party- and we didn't even WORK at Box Hill. Thanks to their Residents Society who supplied the bar tab, making us all happy and smiley..

Went with Ruba for a sari fitting.

The seamstress was soooo difficult. The sari was meant for pick up that day, but some stuff needed alteration and both the sewing machines were broken! Who ever heard of a seamstress without a working sewing machine?

We cheered ourselves up by watching Four Holidays later with Mandy.
